EU 8 Nations Men’s Water Polo Tournament

Ireland will be hosting the 2014 EU 8 Nations Men’s Water Polo Tournament at UL Sport this March!
Teams from Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Scotland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Wales and Malta will descend on Limerick from 14th – 16th March playing 20 games over the three days. Put the date in your diary now – full details and schedule will be available soon.

Irish Senior Mens Training Weekend Jan, UL

Training Weekend in Limerick January 4th to 5th 2014

 Details : Saturday 4th           

·         1.30 to 3.30  – general session working drills/Man-up etc.

·         5.30 to 7.30  –  Match against Scotland.

 Sunday 5th

  • 9.15 to 11.15  – Warm up & review the previous nights match ,followed by another game against Scotland.

 Important Notice for Players.

 The weekends training will be central in the selection of the team for the tournament in March ( 14th to 16th ). It is expected that all players who wish to be considered for section will attend both sessions. It is required that you inform either Ian or Mick by Friday the 20th December whether you plan to attend for the weekend.

 It is critical that a strong squad is available for the weekend to gain the benefit of the games against Scotland, following the weekend the team will be picked for the March tournament.

Irish Senior Men’s Training

There will be an Irish Senior Training session on Saturday November 30th. 

This session will mark the start of preparation for the 8 Nations tournament to be held in Limerick on Paddy’s weekend next year.

The sessions on the 30th Nov. & January 3rd/5th  ( Limerick) will act as squad sessions with the team been selected after the January sessions. I would encourage all to attend.

Saturday 30th November in the NAC 

13:30 – 15:30    break for an hour

16:30 – 18:30

Grads Bridgestone Tournament

Congratulations to all the teams who participated in the Bridgestone Tournament last weekend.

 

In the Girls Tournament, Tribes A retained their crown, defeating Clontarf in a magnificent final match.

 

Whilst disappointment for the players, the Clontarf team did receive two awards, with Niamh O’Meara and Csenge Deak voted MVP Girl & MVP Goalkeeper for the tournament respectively. Grace Dill, of Tribes A, also received a special award for MVP Most Promising Player for her performances throughout the tournament.

 

In the Boys Tournament, a very strong City of Manchester team defeated Corrib A in the final to bring the shield back to England with them. City of Manchester player, Ben Riding was voted MVP Boy for the tournament.

 

Both Grads WPC and Bridgestone would like to thank all the teams who took part in this years tournament and make it the success it was.
